Terms of Service

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Fleetiqo LLC (“Fleetiqo”, “we”) for your use of boat.vin. By using the site or signing in, you accept them. If you do not, do not use boat.vin.

Your account is a SalvageAlert account, so the SalvageAlert Terms of Service also apply to it, including everything about paid plans, billing and refunds.

boat.vin shows boats and personal watercraft listed at Copart and IAA salvage auctions in the United States and Canada, keeps them after the sale with the last bid we saw, and decodes hull identification numbers (HINs). It is an information service.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Copart, Inc. or IAA, Inc. Listings, descriptions and photos belong to the auctions that published them. We do not sell boats, hold auctions or take bids.

Listing data comes from the auctions and can be incomplete, late or wrong. Prices marked “last bid seen” are the highest bid we recorded, not necessarily the price paid. A HIN decode is read from the number itself and is an estimate for hulls built before August 1984. Condition descriptions are the auction’s, not an inspection. Always check the auction’s own listing, inspect the boat and get professional advice before you bid or buy.

Keep your sign-in details confidential, keep your information accurate, and tell us at once if you suspect someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

Do not misuse or disrupt boat.vin, try to get unauthorized access, or break the law or anyone’s rights with it. Do not copy the catalogue in bulk, scrape it or extract it by automated means; access through our partners and our API is governed by its own terms. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

The site, its design, its code and our compilation of the data belong to Fleetiqo. You may use boat.vin for your own purposes; anything beyond that needs our written permission.

We may add, change or remove features, and we do not promise boat.vin will always be available or free of errors.

BOAT.VIN IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Fleetiqo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including lost profits, missed auctions or decisions made on the site’s data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA, except where the consumer law of your country requires otherwise. Before any formal claim, write to [email protected] so we can try to settle it.

We may update these Terms; material changes take effect after reasonable notice on the site. Continuing to use boat.vin after that means you accept them.
